  • We picked up Peggy and her family on Monday, May 16, at 10:00 p.m. at the Abilene Airport after their return flight from New York City. After Peggy picked up her car from our house, they went shopping for Abilene souvenirs at Wal-Mart and didn't get much sleep.
  • The next day we left at 1:30 p.m. to drive to Fort Worth. We toured the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens to provide a peaceful respite from the hectic schedule that the girls had been experiencing for the last week in New York City. There were a number of different types of gardens that we walk through there, each with its own charm.
  • Leave the end drove to downtown Dallas where we toured the John F. Kennedy Memorial and Dealey Plaza. Amy had admired President Kennedy from Hong Kong when she was a child. She had visited this area for years ago when they brought Peggy to school, but she did not get any pictures at that time. We certainly remedied that oversight this time.
  • After walking all around the historic areas in Dallas, we drove to Richardson and ate at the Caravelle restaurant. Peggy, Jasmine, and Jaymee had taken us there on a previous trip. We had wonderful food… eight dishes that were shared between all of us. To make things even more pleasant for the girls, all of our waiters and waitresses spoke Cantonese. Amy ordered all of the food, and she chose very well even though we did not know what she was ordering at the time.
  • After we finished eating, we drove to Irving where we found their motel just east of the entry to DFW Airport on Highway 183. We got them checked into their room, and then made sure that they could get a quick bite of breakfast the next morning, and located carts for them to haul their luggage down to the shuttle that took them to the airport.
  • We then drove back to Abilene, arriving around 1:30 a.m.
